  Rolled bars.

  These types of rolled steel bars are the result of a hot deformation process (in a special furnace at 1000 °C and then in the rolling mill): rolling. This procedure transforms the raw material, the billets into rolls and rolled bars. Due to the temperature with which the procedure is carried out, the products do not retain the previous tight tolerances and do not eliminate the surface slag: it is necessary to start with bigger dimensions for subsequent machining, to obtain the desired tolerance through removal.

  Drawn bars.

  Drawn bars go through a reduction process, drawing, which deforms the material in a way to decrease the cross section and increase the length in proportion. The surface of the drawn bars is smooth, shiny, with tight dimensional tolerances (h9, h10, h11).

  Peeled bars.

  With peeling, a surface turning procedure, the bar passes through a hollow machining head equipped with tools for removing swarf and is rolled to restore the correct straightness and eliminate the roughness due to the tool work. The final diameter of the peeled bars has tight tolerances (h9, h10, h11), with a bright and clear appearance.

  Hardened ground bars.

  These bars are cold machined to remove metal by grinding, an exclusive service carried out in the company. The surface of the ground bars has a uniform roughness and less than the result of other cold machining (Ra from 1.6 mm to 0.4 mm). The bars and ground pieces are therefore devoid of surface defects as expected for classes 3 and 4 in the EN 10277/1 standard. Rettacciai supplies:

  Threaded bars.

  The production of threaded bars occurs through rolling, a cold plastic deformation process of the raw material. There is a movement of the material consecutively with the threading, which is submerged and then re-emerged. Rettacciai supplies:

  Hardened ground bars.

  Used mainly for axial movement, for linear motion and in industrial automation, hardened ground bars are available in Rettacciai, where the staff also make cuts to size.

  Chromed bars.

  Chroming is carried out to improve the surface characteristics of steels: a surface treatment that increases resistance to oxidisation and chemical agents, and retains good mechanical machinability.
